Equip students with a basic understanding of the
contribution of the Bible to American community life, law, and culture.

Give insight into the views and beliefs of
America’s founding fathers.

Acquaint students with historical and literary
figures referenced in great literature, drama, art, and music.

Provide a greater knowledge of Middle-Eastern
history, culture, and geography related to current day politics and events.

Familiarize students with the Bible so that
he/she becomes adept in locating scriptural references.
·
Impart knowledge of world religions presented in
the Bible such as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
Material is presented in a
historical, literary, and cultural context with an educational intent in
accordance with U.S. Supreme Court rulings:
Abington v. Schempp (1963) and Stone v. Graham (1980).
Teachers expose the student to
pertinent information in and about the Bible but do not impose belief or
doctrine upon them. The elective Bible
classes are open to all students no matter their religious beliefs
or backgrounds.
Teachers of the Bible Courses
at Cox Mill take seriously the task of providing an academic, educational study
of a book , in this case the Bible, which reveals historical, literary, and
religious facts which continue to impact the values and culture of our society
today.or backgrounds.
These courses were offered in
the Spring of 2014: Introduction to
Hebrew Bible/Old Testament (25 students), and Introduction to New Testament (28 students).
